Here's how to care for your new DTG item:
Before wearing, your garment should be washed.
When you wash your new DTG item, it should be turned inside out (if possible) and washed in cool water. Tumble dry on low heat or let air dry.
A NOTE ON FABRIC CHOICE...
NOT ALL FABRICS ARE CREATED EQUAL
When choosing your item, it is important to understand how the fabric and material choice can affect the final look of your DTG item.
Let's look at how cotton fabrics differ from synthetics (i.e. polyester):
The weave of cotton garments is traditionally more dense than synthetic material.
This means that the ink has more surface area to cling on to once we heat press the print. The end result is a more vibrant, high-contrast image.
The great thing about cotton is that we can print high-contrast images as well as more transparent, vintage style images.
Synthetic materials (such as polyester) are often used for "dry" fit type clothing (think athletic clothing).
These synthetics are used because the weave of the material is usually less dense than cotton. This allows the material to "breathe" more and sweat to wick away and dry faster.
Any ink that is printed on the "void" area of the weave will get burned off in the final heat press, often resulting in a more transparent, vintage-type look.
